1. Purde, or Purthe, who emigrated from Scotland, m. in Hing. July 3, 1667, Patience, dau. of George Russell. She d. in Hing. 22 March, 1723-24. He d. 2 Dec. 1721. "Farmer." Resided off East, near Hull St.

     vi. Mary, July 2, 1677, d. 29 Oct. 1686.
    vii. Hannah, March 23, 1678-79.  m. Jan. 19, 1702-3, Elias Magoon of Dux.
   viii. Sarah, March 7, 1681-82, d. 2 Nov. 1686.
     ix. Abigail, Feb. 10, 1683-84.  m. June 21, 1722, David Beal, widr.
      x. Rachel, March 28, 1686, d. 27 March, 1714.
     xi. Mary, bt. Apr. 1689.
    xii. Solomon, bt. Nov. 8, 1691.  m. June 14, 1716, Susanna, dau. of Timothy
           Huet.
2. James, (Purde), b. in Hing. Aug. 11, 1675. m. June 6, 1710, Sarah Lane, dau. of John and Sarah (Beal) Lane. She was b. in Hing. Dec. 12, 1683, and d. 30 Apr. 1780, æt. 96 yrs. He d. 9 July, 1755, æt. 80th yr. Resided on the paternal homestead. Feb. 15, 1725-26, James Macvarlo's house was destroyed by fire. Subsequently a new house was erected on the same spot.
